Abstract
The ability of rape seed oil to be used with prechamber engines and in a burner is proved and results are very promising. Meanwhile, these results are obtained with a specially fitted burner (settings and modifications) for refined rape seed oil. Small scale rapeseed production was studied with a farm « plant model », using linear programming. For a group of 20 farms, the cost of oil varies between 2.2 and 3.1 FF per litre. For a larger group (50 farms), the cost of oil ranges between 1.5 and 1.7 FF per litre. For reaching competitive solutions, the cost of oil must be less than 1.60 FF per litre.
