Abstract

The D ynamic E rgodic D ivertor DED at TEXTOR-94 will be operated with de and ac at 50 Hz, 1000 Hz, and 10 kHz [ 1 ]. The penetration of the magnetic field in the plasma region especially at 1 kHz and 10 kHz is influenced by the complete structural arrangement near the DED coils. The structure consists of the vessel wall, the liner including coil clamps, and the carbon limiter tiles. For the final design of the coil arrangement and the layout of the power supply the knowledge of the magnetic field strength and its direction is important. In order to solve the problems mentioned above, magnetic field calculations were performed with the program ANSYS. The paper describes how the complicated geometry of the design was simplified and transformed into the finite element network for simulation. Results of the magnetic field calculation at the different frequencies are discussed.
