Abstract

Demolition and collapse dynamics of steel machine structures and optimum design are studied. Beam and telescopic elements are tested to plastic collapse and recorded using video and PC and analyzed with nonlinear FEM and analytically. Collapses of some structure are simulated using a two-dimensional mechanism program models with nonlinearized springs and stiff bodies. The methodology of optimum design is considered in the case of a telescopic crane mechanism. The goal of maximizing customer satisfaction on the cost and technical performance is shown useful. The technical goal is defined as minimization of the top event probability of total collapse at demolition load.
