Abstract
Increasing crime rates directly obstruct the growth of any nation & therefore it is and has always been a primary concern of every nation around the globe to control or perhaps have an upper hand on the ongoing as well as future criminal activities. With technology moving towards its zenith, it is perhaps the best answer any country can have to any criminal activity out there. Through this research paper, we put forth an idea as well as the details of how Big Data technology can be used to battle criminals or perhaps Crime in general. In this research paper, we speak in detail about our implementation in which we make use of the call data records (CDRs) of various suspects and victims in order to extract something significant to crime solving or at least significant enough to point in a few correct directions. In order to achieve this, we make use of Hadoop to process and store the large CDRs, Hive in order to perform Data Summarization, Query and Analysis on the Structured CDR.
