Abstract
The growing crime rate of any country is always one of the biggest obstacles to its growth and development. With more manpower it certainly helps to keep the crime rate at bay, but is manpower the ideal solution? No. This may come as a surprise that despite Big Data being the boom of the century is yet to take firm roots when it comes to helping solve a Criminal Investigation. With the aim of changing this, our paper describes the need of a system which analyzes the Call Data Records (CDR) using Big Data technology. Our proposed idea through this research paper is to develop a system which takes as input mobile number/s and extracts corresponding CDRs, thereby generating multiple databases of CDRs. After this it analyzes these databases and finds various links between various suspects (mobile numbers) and generates as output, conclusions of its analysis. This conclusion may consist of phone numbers, call durations, locations etc. With proper analysis of the CDRs of the various suspects, the Anti — Crime team can move forward on multiple fronts simultaneously.
