Abstract

Inspired by the spirituality and legacy of St. John Baptist De La Salle, Lasallians are invited to connect with their personal experience of God who is providentially working for the salvation of humankind. Lasallian Spirituality and mission is deeply rooted in the spiritual experience of the Founder. This study attempted to understand how Signum Fidei members live out the Lasallian mission and spirituality. This is a phenomenological study which examined the lived experiences of five (5) participants who were chosen from different Lasallian schools in the Philippines – DLSU – Dasmarinas, DLS – Health and Science Institute, DLS – Zobel, De La Salle Greenhills, and DLS – Lipa. The study determined the first thematic reflections as fruits of significant stories, experiences, thoughts, description. Five (5) thematic reflections emerged from individual structural descriptions: Responding to the Call of Communion and Service; A Faith that should be nurtured and shared; A Gifted to Give; Walking extra miles; and A living and Sustaining Commitment. An eidetic insight revealed that “Upholding the Lasallian Spirituality and Mission is both a Vocation and a Commitment.” A symbolic representation was drawn to serve as a creative synthesis. Signum Fidei members live out their Lasallian vocation as they become living witnesses of how one’s faith moved them to work with zeal in their Lasallian Ministry believing that they are one in mind and heart in the fulfillment of Lasallian Ministry.
