Abstract

Trust has been conceptualized as an expectation, a hypothesis, or part of social harmony. The objective of the study is to know the psychological meaning of trust in adults from northern, central and southern regions of Mexico. 120 people participated (50% women), inhabitants of Mexico City, Ciudad Juárez and Mérida, with an age range between 18 and 60 years (M = 31.14; SD = 10.84). The technique of Modified Natural Semantic Networks was used. The results showed a significant correlation towards the person who trust is directed in Mexico City with Ciudad Juárez (rho = .71; p = .03) and Mérida [rho = .73; p = .03)], as well as between these two cities [rho = .80; p = .01)]. The similarity shown by the cities studied towards the orientation of trust is discussed, as well as the particularity of each one of them regarding the concept of trust.
