Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of short bowel syndrome: principles of pathogenesis, mainmanifestations - leading clinical and metabolic disorders, homeostasis shifts, modern approachesto treatment, including the principles of nutritional support, of patients with short bowelsyndrome.The relevance of the problem is determined by the significant number of such patients in theoverall structure of acute abdominal pathology, especially against the background of the pastpandemic of a new coronavirus infection, the high frequency o f intestinal failure syndrome withmaldigestion and malabsorption and, directly related to this, the syndrome of severemultinutrient deficiency, not infrequent development of severe, often fatal complications,significant lethality.The main directions of treatment considered in the article, including the principles of nutritionalsupport, make it possible to obtain positive results of treatment of patients, reduce the frequencyand severity of severe protein-energy deficiency and related complications, and significantlyimprove the quality of life of patients with short bowel syndrome.
