Abstract
This paper presents a study of the natural ventilation and illumination which occur when lateral continuous shafts fulfill the requirements for external openings in underground parking facilities. Daylight factors and natural airflow rates for different garage dimensions, shaft shapes, shunts, and vertical partitions are investigated. A CFD code and a daylight package in a two-dimension implementation carry out the study.
