Abstract

Few district general hospitals have an organised approach to the provision of stroke services. Neurovascular assessments tend to take place in general neurology clinics, and rehabilitation services tend to be rather make-shift for those patients who need to come into hospital. This article discusses the processes involved in developing a stroke service to meet the requirement for prompt neurovascular assessment and intensive rehabilitation from a personal perspective.
