Abstract

Stroke is a major cause of death and disability for individuals, a major cost to the NHS and a Health of the Nation priority. Many hospitals are currently examining the provision of their stroke services. A structured approach to the multidisciplinary care of stroke patients is vital. This article discusses how with a small increase in resources, a coordinated approach can organize stroke services better and so improve service quality and outcomes for stroke patients.
