Abstract
This article aims to present a bibliographic-documentary analysis of the concept of Social Question, its incursion into Brazilian Social Work and its relations with historical-dialectical materialism. Methodologically, through historical review, it demonstrated how the concept emerged in the conservative spectrum of competitive capital, later taking on a new approach through the contributions of Critical Social Theory. For Brazilian Social Work, especially after the renewal of its scope in the 1980s, the Social Question understood by historical-dialectical materialism became a fundamental element for the analysis and structure-conjuncture that supports the currently current mature form of the profession.
