Abstract
This method describes an engine test procedure for evaluating the performance of engine oils primarily in terms of the protection provided against sludge and varnish deposits and valve train wear. This procedure also involves test engine ratings/measurements pertaining to positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve clogging, sticking and clogging of critical parts, piston ring and bearing wear, and intake valve tulip deposits.
