Abstract
Abstract Fifteen new atomic mass difference determinations are combined with a large body of reaction and decay data in a recalculation of the separation and pairing energies for Hf and the heavier rare earth nuclei. The accuracy and reliability of the data are such that definite systematic trends are observed. The data have also allowed the accurate determination of three decay Q -values which were previously unknown.
