Abstract

The sensing behavior and structural properties of cadmium sulfide (CdS) doped titanium dioxide (TiO2) thick film gas sensor were investigated and grown onto the alumina substrate. Microstructural properties are studied using X-Ray diffraction (XRD). The XRD measurement reveals that, the crystallites size of TiO2 was found ∼25.6 nm and ∼22.6 nm for sensor T1 (undoped TiO2) and T2 (CdS-TiO2) respectively. The response of the fabricated sensor T1 and T2 is measured varying the concentration of LPG (0–5000 ppm) in air ambient at 300 K. We observed that the sensor T2 has the highest response toward LPG (35) which is 2.5 times more than sensor S1 for the concentration of LPG (5000 ppm). The transient times of the fabricated sensor T2 are 130 sec and 350 sec.
