Abstract

1% Nd doped CaSiO3, SrSiO3, and BaSiO3 single crystals were grown by the Floating Zone method to evaluate the photoluminescence and scintillation properties particularly in the near-infrared (NIR) range. The samples show scintillation due to the 4f-4f transitions of Nd3+ peaking around 900, 1100, and 1400 nm. Both photoluminescence (PL) and scintillation decay curves could be approximated by a sum of two exponential decay functions. As a detector property, we evaluated the relation between the integrated value of scintillation intensity and X-ray exposure dose, and the dynamic range covers from 1 mGy to 10Gy.
