Abstract
Abstract We study the two-dimensional problem of the scattering of a plane longitudinal wave incident in a homogeneous, isotropic, linearly elastic quarter space. The complex-valued amplitudes of the Rayleigh waves propagating on the free surfaces are plotted versus Poisson's ratio. Also plotted are the farfield scattering patterns for Poisson's ratio μ= 1 4 and 1 3 .
