Abstract
Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) care has evolved greatly over the last two decades. Appropriately timed and well-documented screening can prevent a child with ROP from developing severe vision loss. A safety net for children with ROP includes commitment not only by the ophthalmologist certified for ROP screening, but also from the hospitals and parents associated with these individuals. The overlapping tasks from these three arms may prevent ROP children from slipping through the cracks and suffering not only significant loss of vision, but a decreased quality of life.
