Abstract
The article considers two tendencies in the development of the political system of the Mongolian society in the XV-XVI centuries. It is shown that the institution of Taisha, a great commander, became the most important in the power structure. It was most fully developed during the time of Esen Taisha. Another tendency, which had ultimately determined the further development of the political system of Mongolia during a long time, was during the reign of Dayan Khan and is connected with the elimination of the independence of the Mongolian nobility and consolidation of power in the hands of Taiji − his heirs, representatives of the Altan Urug.
