Abstract

In partial fulfillment of its goals and in response to encouragement by the Regional Medical Library Services (Region 2) to organize "grassroots" participation in the Biomedical Communications Network, the Alabama Health Libraries Association (AIHeLA), began coordination of a union list of serials. This paper discusses the role of AlHeLA in the development and ongoing maintenance of a statewide union list of health science serials which contributes to the SERHOLD database. Responsibilities of the role are contract negotiation for data processing services, communication, education, quality control, and recruitment. Two union list coordinators voluntarily serve as representatives of the association in carrying out some aspects of these responsibilities.
