Abstract
The paper, through the analysis of the case study relating to the morphometric and chromatic documentation of the Facultad de Arte Teatral of the ISA (La Habana), aims to highlight the essential role that the survey of architecture plays in the process of enhancement and protection of Cultural Heritage. The survey is the critical investigation tool by definition: when it’s understood in the broadest sense of the term, it constitutes the necessary cognitive premise at the basis of any design action. This is even more true when the intervention involves the restoration of a cultural artefact aimed at its conservation and management, an operation that assumes a careful analysis of the existing state and the correct reading of the architectural organism in all its parts.
