Abstract

The article based on the recommendations of the European Society of Cardiology (2022) discusses the definition, pathogenesis, classification and diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension. Particular attention is paid to the indications for conducting and interpreting the results of catheterization of the right heart cavities with the selection of groups of patients with precapillary, isolated postcapillary and combined pulmonary hypertension. The article provides a diagnostic algorithm for people with suspected pulmonary arterial hypertension, as well as risk stratification of patients with a confirmed diagnosis. Issues of prescription of specific drug therapy for patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension, escalation of therapy, including indications for transplantation of the heart-lung complex are considered.
