Abstract

Abstract It is argued that the paramagnetism and relatively large electron heats of Cu Ni alloys are understandable if the d electrons of Ni are described by resonant bound states. Comparison is made with Ag Pd alloys. It is also suggested that the properties of CuNi and AgPd alloys are characterised by a Mott transition for the d electrons.
