Abstract
Replicative transposition of DNA molecules in bacteria involves two major steps: transposition and resolution. The resolution process involves the precise excision of DNA molecules from a larger transpositional intermediate, the cointegrate. This article describes the process of resolvase-mediated deletion exemplified by the Tn3/γδ resolution systems.
