Abstract

This study addresses the issues faced by female characters in the collection of short stories "Malam Terakhir" by Leila S. Chudori. The female characters in the collection of short stories "Malam Terakhir" are characters who resist power. Therefore, this study aims to describe the forms of power that exist in the collection of short stories and the attitudes of female characters in resisting the power that limits their lives. The method and approach in this research are descriptive analytics using Beauvoir's theory of biological facts of women, Moi and Hollow's theory of femininity, and Foucault's theory of power and resistance to power. The results of the research show that there are forms of power, including parental power (mother) over daughters, male power over women, father's power over daughters, and government power over student activists. These forms of power give rise to resistance shown in the attitudes of the characters. This resistance leads to consequences that the characters must bear in their life choices.
