Abstract

This chapter focuses on the impact of pollution sources on the environment with the principal elements of the environmental protection. It presents the impact of the main pollutants on the living systems. It presents the air quality conditions from the protected areas. Air pollution is defined as the presence in the outdoor or indoor atmosphere of one or more gaseous or particulate contaminants in quantities, characteristics, and of duration, such as to be injurious to human, plant, or animal life or to property. Air pollution problems may vary greatly with the geography, demography, and socioeconomic profile of region. These factors will determine the source and emission rate of the pollutant. The climate and topography of a region will influence the distribution and atmospheric processes of the pollution and its effects on the environment and/or human health.
