Abstract

The lack of exposure to helminth infections, as a result of improved living standards and medical conditions, may have contributed to the increased incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) as an important environmental factor. Basically the increasing experimental data and clinical studies support the protective potential of helminth infection in IBD.
