Abstract
Influenza is a contagious respiratory disease.Current influenza virus vaccine attempts to induce strong antibody responses against the virus glycoproteins HA and NA,but antigenic drift and shift on HA and NA may cause abrogation of vaccine-mediated protection.The measure to avoid this problem is to develop universal influenza vaccines.M2e,the extracellular domain of the influenza virus M2 protein,is the conservation of its sequence.HBc used as a virus-like particles packaging M2e of influenza is by far the most feasible method to prepare universal influenza vaccine.Experiments showed that M2e-HBc fusion protein not only can induce sufficient antibodies,but also enhance T-cell response,produce cross-protective effect,greatly reduce the morbidity and mortality of influenza,and promote the resumption of the disease.In addition,the conservative sequence of influenza virus HA and NP、adjuvant and mucosal treatment methods offer viable option for universal vaccine developments.
