Abstract

Registration of three dimensional images is a significant method to evaluate the three dimensional changes of patient growth and treatment. This article reviews three prevalent registration technologies and the advanced applications in orthodontics. Numerous validation studies explored approaches to register cranial base, maxillary, mandible, dental model, and a single tooth. Otherwise, the attempt to fuse different three dimensional data of the same patient provides more visualized and accurate digital model. Key words: Three-dimensional superimposition; Orthodontics
