Abstract

Millimeter wave is one of the development directions of modern radar applications. With the development of W-band components, W band Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) system research has been a hot spot since it has the advantages of high resolution and more information about scattering characteristics of images. This paper introduces a W-band Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar system operated at 94GHz and provides a bandwidth of 5GHz. The performance index of this system is discussed for ISAR applications. FMCW mode ISAR echo model is established and ISAR signal processing procedures are introduced. For this W band radar system, ISAR outfield experiments with the electric rotating platform are carried out and the real data processing results are presented in the end of the paper.
