Abstract

Regression analysis of body mass index and physical fitness indexes of 7788 students in medical colleges was carried out using literature data method and mathematical statistics method to explore the distribution characteristics of BMI (the evaluation levels of BMI are: low weight, normal, overweight and obesity) and The correlation between BMI and physical test scores, vital capacity, 50m running, standing long jump, Sit And Reach, pull-up, situp, 800m/1000m run. The results showed that the average BMI of male and female medical college students was (20.36±2.98kg/m2), 78.15% of the students were within the normal range, and the proportions of low weight, overweight and obesity students were 11.12%, 8.46%,2.36% male students. The proportions of low weight (12.68%), overweight (11.91%), and obesity (3.67%) are higher than those of female students (11.12%, 5.97%, 1.42%). The degree of fit of R2 between male and female students’ BMI and physical test scores is very low, indicating that with the increase in BMI, the total physical fitness score of students will gradually decrease, and the BMI value of students with excellent physical test scores is between18-20, all within the normal range of BMI. The regression coefficient between male and female normal group and BMI (F (6, 2336) =32.949, p<.001; F (6, 3736) =35.355, p<.001). The regression coefficient of male and female low weight group and BMI (F (6,407) =2.775, p =.012; F (6,438) =0.957, p =.454). The regression coefficient of male and female overweight group and BMI (F (6,382) =6.104, p<.001; F (6, 263) =2.393, p<.05). The regression coefficient of male and female obesity group and BMI (F (6,113) =3.995, p =.001, F (6,57) =4.995, p < .001). Conclusion: The BMI values of male and female students with excellent physical test scores are between18-20. The BMI level is positively correlated with vital capacity, 50m run, and 800m run, and negatively correlated with standing long jump and sit and reach.
