Abstract

Horizontal wells sand-flushing by rotating jets is a new technology, which developed rapidly in recent years. By characters of high-pressure water jet and the technique of the damping rotation control, it can break up the consolidated sand bed easily and suspend the sand efficiently with the combination of high-pressure jet impact and strong annular helical flow. The technique can effectively solve the problem of sand sticking and pollution. It can fulfill the increasing production need of the horizontal well. This article studies the mechanism of sand-flushing with rotating jets and designs the optimization of hydraulic parameters, then forms the programming design software. The optimum displacement can clean out sand beds from the bottom and not cause new damage. Finally, field tests verify the feasibility for sand-flushing of horizontal wells with rotating jets.
