Abstract

The article is devoted to research of the output signal of magnetostrictive linear or angular displacement converters under the influence paired current pulses. A mathematical model of the formation magnetic fields an annular permanent magnet and magnetic fields formed by current pulses is described in detail. Formulas for calculating the magnetic flux in the reading element and the output signal are described. A formula is derived that allows us to calculate the output signal formed by a pair of current pulses rectangular shape. A computational experiment was conducted to study the shape and amplitude of the output signal when the distance between a pair of pulses changes. Since the change in distance and the change in time between a pair of pulses is related to the speed of propagation ultrasonic waves, further research was carried out through the distance between the pair of pulses. Studies have shown that the change in the shape and amplitude of the output signal depends on the distance between the pulses. When the distance increases to a certain value, the amplitude decreases and the duration of the output signal increases. There were two highs in the output signal and a decrease in the minimum value between them. Further increase in the distance contributed only to the displacement of the second maximum coordinate, the amplitude values of the extremes were constant. The results of the computational experiment were verified experimentally. The results of the computational experiment and experimental verification coincided, which confirmed the hypothesis that the use of paired current pulses allows you to change not only the amplitude, but also the shape of the output signal magnetostrictive linear or angular displacement converters.
