Abstract

In order to meet the qualification demands required by the job market, professional master’s degree courses in Education have a relevant potential in the dissemination of research results in the school context. So as to investigate the particularities of the studies in Ethnomathematics undertaken within the scope of these courses, this article aims to analyze five researches in Ethnomathematics produced at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) Professional Master’s Degree in Teaching Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Through a State of the Question kind of research, we verified the investigation of ethnomathematic knowledge of professional groups in consonance with students, from different research methods, through the interrelation of Ethnomathematics with Problem Solving. In addition, we identified that the knowledge showed permeates content from all BNCC thematic units. Regarding the educational product, the construction of didactic systems prevailed, and even though they are ready to be used by teachers, they have limited transfer potential for different school contexts. It is essential that research in ethnomathematics of professional masters’ degrees continues to grow, seeking both a closer approach to teaching practice and exploring the potential of this course format in the construction of educational products focused on the dissemination of this investigative field in the classroom.
