Abstract
Progressive development of the country is based on the realization of human potential, as well as on the effective application of knowledge, skills and abilities of people to improve the technology, economic results, the life of society as a whole. The aim of this work – the analysis of the impact of competence-based approach in education on the formation of research capacity. The authors disclosed specifics of competence-based approach, are key competencies required of students of the modern school. Justified by the value of mastering the students research competence within the elective course «Fundamentals of research activities» in the Scientific and Educational Center of Economy and Information Technology Institute for Socio-economic development of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
