Abstract

Objective Analyze the common cause of electric ophthalmia,explore the diagnosis and treatment for the electric ophthalmia at ophthalmology emergency room. Methods Collecting 38 patients with electric ophthalmia those admitted to the emergency room at night in our hospital, Its predisposing factors and morbidity indicators of time limits,and treatment measures were summarized. Results Thirty-two cases of electirc ophthalmia were male patients (84.21%) and 6 ( 15.79% ) female patients,average age was (37 ±4. 31 ) years,onset time was 3 - 10 (7 ±2. 12) hours. The main risk factor was welding rays (32 cases 84.21% ) ,family ultraviolet light disinfection 4 cases ( 10.53% ), UV light disinfection in hospital 1 case (2.63%) ,watch the solar eclipse 1 case (2.63%) ,the main symptoms and signs are photophobia,lacrimation, blurred vision, eye pain, conjunctival congestion, or accompanied by mixed conjunctival edema, corneal epithelial rough or part of corneal epithelial layer stripping. Symptoms were relieved ( 10 ± 3. 54) min after oxybuprocaine hydrochoride eye dropped, then given recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor (b-FGF) in eye drop form, oxygen difloxacin ointment and other symptomatic treatment and prevention of infection. Conclusion The patients of Electric ophthalmia are mostly male, the main risk factor is the welding of light irradiation, the main clinical manifectations is corneal irritation, treatment should be actively relieve symptoms and promote recovery of corneal epithelium together prevent infection.
