Abstract

In the context of increasing migration to Chile, it is pertinent that Social Work interventions begin to incorporate intercultural communication strategies. In order to facilitate this, the training of undergraduate students in this area is essential. The article will analyze the presence or absence of training courses in intercultural communication skills in the undergraduate programs of Chilean schools for Social Work. It attempts to explain this presence or absence based on Latin American perspectives of Social Work. Additionally, the article analyzes both the traditions of International Social Work that have elaborated theoretical-methodological perspectives on the issue as well as the Chilean migratory context, in order to propose guidelines that can facilitate the inclusion of this perspective in the professional training and education of undergraduates in Social Work.
