Abstract

A 0.95(K0.5Na0.5NbO3)-0.05Ca(Zr0.08Zn0.31Nb0.61)1.025O3 ferroelectric ceramic with high transparency, typical relaxor behaviors and electrical homogeneous structure was fabricated by the conventional solid-state method. The obtained ceramic presents low-symmetry orthorhombic phase structure and excellent transmittances of ~65% in the visible region and ~71% in the infrared region, due to its typical relaxor behavior (γ = 1.99) and submicron-grain size (< 0.3 µm). Meanwhile, it also exhibits a high dielectric constant ~1344 and a low dielectric loss < 0.02. The dielectric stability and relaxor behavior of the ceramic could be largely attributed to the observed polar nano-domains under transmission electron microscopy. We believe this ceramic will be a promising candidate for applications in the interdisciplinary field of electrical/optical devices.
