Abstract

1.1. Oxygen consumption of intact Amphiuma means were measured and compared with their liver succinie dehydrogenase and cytochrome oxidase activities.2.2. A parabolic relationship exists between oxygen consumption and body temperature of the intact Amphiuma. In contrast, a linear relationship exists between liver succinic dehydrogenase and cytochrome oxidase activities and ambient temperatures.3.3. Fasting and feeding had neglible effects on oxygen consumption of the intact animals, but produced marked changes in the liver succinic dehydrogenase and cytochrome oxidases activities.
