Abstract

General formulas are derived for the enhancement of low-temperature electronic specific heat and nuclear relaxation rate by spin fluctuations occurring in an electron gas near a magnetic instability. It is pointed out that this enhancement will occur near a transition to an antiferromagnetic state of the spin density wave type despite the fact that the bulk (q = 0) susceptibility will remain finite.
