Abstract

The present study evaluates the forms of parental participation and their relationship with the current and future sports commitment towards sports practice, from the perception of soccer players belonging to club formations in the city of Quito. The sample is made up of 100 male adolescents between the ages of 12 and 14. The instrument used is based on the Spanish versions of the Questionnaire on Parental Involvement in Sport and the Scale of Degree of Commitment to Sport. The results show that when there is parental participation, especially with demonstrations of support and understanding, this favors the satisfaction and fun of the youth soccer players, influencing their current commitment to sports practice.
