Abstract

The first implantations of leadless pacemakers in Poland were carried out in January 2016, i.e. just over two years after the first implantation in the world. In total, more than 500 systems of this type have been implanted in the country. For most of the last 8 years, it has been possible to reimburse the procedure under the payer’s individual consent, although for over a year it has not been possible at all, and many regional branches of the National Health Fund have had a negative attitude towards applications for reimbursement. It was not until the Regulation of the Minister of Health of 1 December 2023 and the Regulation of the President of the National Health Fund of 29 December 2023 that the procedure could be fully reimbursed in selected groups of patients. The article discusses the requirements for the implementation of the service.
