Abstract

With the increasing demand for industries to enhance production at reduced costs while minimizing lead time, adopting efficient tools and techniques to optimize the manufacturing process has become crucial. The primary objective of this study was to boost productivity and simplify the entire setup process for the Polo component on a MAUSA B CNC machine by introducing the SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die) approach, which aims to minimize machine and tool setup duration. The process in question has a lengthy manufacturing cycle, necessitating the implementation of sophisticated approaches to achieve substantial outcomes in reducing the cycle. Additionally, the process requires well-structured planning, which differs from serial processes where minor solutions can yield significant benefits in terms of cost and production cycle reduction. This article outlines the solutions and enhancements utilized in the process.
