Abstract

Research on Li-ion batteries is completely paying attention on development of novel materials. Oxide as electode materials extensively gained interest in the prospect of Li-ion battery applications. Various metal oxides framework structures which can reversibly incorporate Li ions have achieved interest to exploit as electrode materials. ReO3 type and its interrelated shear structures are recognizable out of these structures. Lithium sites are linked in all three directions to attain rapid lithium diffusion in ReO3 type structures. Corner-shared ReO6 octahedra are linked to form the basic ReO3 structure. Introduction of edge-sharing into the basic structure stabilizes the structure after lithium insertion. Variety of ReO3 structures have been revised for Li insertion recently. The extensive enlightenment on recent information of ReO3 type structured materials explored as anode materials for Li-ion batteries which can be rechargable are presnted here.
