Abstract

This study describes a real-time, centralised voltage control system for 33 and 11 kV electricity distribution networks, aiming to optimise the network voltages and release network capacity by dynamically adjusting the previously static target voltage settings of substations' voltage control relays. This study is based on learning to date from Western Power Distribution's (WPD) Tier-2 Low Carbon Networks (LCN) Fund project, Network Equilibrium.
