Abstract
Terminal acetylenes (HCCR, R = Ph, Et or COOEt) react with trans-[ReCl(N 2)(dppe) 2] (dppe = Ph 2PCH 2CH 2PPh 2) in refluxing thf to afford the neutral vinylidene complexes trans-[ReCl(CCHR)(dppe) 2]. The structure of the complex with R = Ph has been established by X-ray diffraction.
