Abstract

Reaction of trans-[MoH 4(dppe) 2] (dppe = Ph 2PCH 2CH 2PPh 2) with RCO 2CCH (R = Me or Et) in the presence of HBF 4 in tetrahydrofuran (thf) gives the carboxylato-σ-alkenyl complexes [ MoH 2{CHCHC(O )OR}(dppe) 2]BF 4, whereas if HBr is used as acid, decarboxylation of the alkenyl ligand occurs to give the complexes [MoBrH 2(CHCHR)(dppe) 2].
