Abstract
The palladium complex [PdCl 2(PhCN) 2] reacts readily with metal bis(dialkyl dithiocarbamates) [M(S 2CNR 2) 2] (M = Pb, Zn, Cd, Hg, Cu, Ni, MoO 2, VO; R = Et, Bu n ), in refluxing dicloromethane, to afford the known complexes [|PdCl(S 2CNR 2)| 2] in virtually quantitative yield. In boiling acetonitrile the diphosphine complexes [PdX 2(Ph 2PCH 2CH 2PPh 2)] (X = Cl, Br) react readily with bi- and trivalent metal diethyl dithiocarbamates [M(S 2CNEt 2) n ] (M = Pb, Zn, Cd, Hg. Ni, MoO 2, VO n = 2; M = Co, Fe, Mn, n = 3) to afford salts of the general form [Pd(S 2CNEt 2)(Ph 2PCH 2CH 2PPh 2)] 2 +[MX 4] 2−. Diethyl dithiocarbamates of copper(II) and silver(I) form salts of the [Pd(S 2CNEt 2)(Ph 2PCH 2CH 2PPh 2)] + cation containing linear [CuX 2] − and [AgX 2] − anions respectively (X = Cl, Br). The X-ray crystal structures of [Pd(S 2CNEt 2)(Ph 2PCH 2CH 2PPH 2)][CuCl 2] and [Pd(S 2PCH 2CH 2PPh 2][AgCl 2] · 0.5CH 2Cl 2 are reported.
