Abstract
The University is under pressure from a society with multiple stakeholders and interests, some of which point to the university as a key player in the economic development and the training of the professionals needed by the labour market. Employability appears as a key element and a basic objective of the training of individuals. This fact, which can create tensions with the traditional mission of the university, is nuanced by the contemplation of employability from a broad perspective that includes individual, labour and social elements.In this paper we present the need to contemplate employability as mentioned above, giving it meaning within a university that requires to maintain its essence while adapting to changes. Besides, a broad vision of employability facilitates its engagement with the need for higher education to train professionals “capable of responding to environmental problems and social needs, making decisions and performing actions consistent with the values of sustainability.” (Aznar et al., 2014). Greening the curriculum becomes an ally of employability thus understood
