Abstract

The development of Russian historical and pedagogical science at the end of the 20th - beginning of the 21st century is largely associated with the search for new ideological and methodological foundations for the research practice of studying the past. The overcoming of Soviet methodological monism, based on a materialistic understanding of history, led to a certain methodological diversity in the historical and pedagogical research of the post-Soviet period. Various methodological approaches (civilizational, paradigmatic, culturological, narrative, axiological, etc.) began to be declared in scientific works on the history of pedagogy, the purpose of which was seen in the formation of a new view on the development of education and pedagogical thought in various historical periods.
